| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned and facing bull's head of Mecklenburg, rendered in relief with prominent horns and a ring through the nose, occupying the central field. A circular legend in Gothic Latin script surrounds the inner circle, reading H•ALB•G•DVX•G•MEG•B•APO•, abbreviating the title of Duke Albrecht by the Grace of God. The design is characteristic of the hammered small coinage of early sixteenth-century northern Germany. |
