Obverse description Two adjacent heraldic shields displayed side by side in the field: the electoral Saxon shield (barry of ten or and sable with a crancelin) at right, and the ducal Saxon shield (divided per pale with various quarterings) at left, surmounted by the date in large numerals across the upper field. A small decorative fleur-de-lis or similar ornament appears at the base between the shields. The coin is struck within a beaded border.

Reverse description A large ornate tournament helmet shown in three-quarter view, surmounted by a small crown or coronet with decorative finial, flanked by elaborate foliate or scroll mantling spreading to either side of the field. A broad, fluted crown forms the base of the composition, with sweeping acanthus-like crest mantling filling the flanking areas. The design is rendered in a bold Renaissance style within a beaded border with no surrounding legend.
