Obverse description Central field bears the cursive intertwined initials 'MA' (Moritz of Saxony) in Gothic script, surmounted by an electoral hat above. The design is rendered in a simple hammered style typical of small Saxon pfennig coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The coin bears a piercing hole near the upper edge, consistent with use as a pendant or clothing ornament. The field is otherwise plain, with no surrounding legend on this side.
