Obverse description Quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz: the first and fourth quarters display the characteristic six-spoked wheel of Mainz, while the second and third quarters show a chequered pattern representing the personal arms of Anselm Francis of Ingelheim. The shield is flanked on either side by decorative palm or laurel branches. Above the shield, a ribbon cartouche bears the initials A F E M (Anselm Franciscus Elector Moguntinus) surmounted by an electoral bonnet.
