Reverse description The Erfurt wheel — the principal charge of the city's arms — is depicted centrally within a circular medallion, surrounded by an ornate Baroque cartouche of bold scrolling volutes and foliate flourishes extending to the coin's beaded border. The wheel motif, symbolic of Erfurt's civic identity, is rendered in relief against a flat field within the central roundel. Partial date or mint-master initials may appear in the lateral fields of the cartouche, consistent with the issue series.
