| Obverse description | The obverse features the denomination inscription 'ΜΙΑ ΔΡΑΧΜΗ' (One Drachma) displayed in two lines across the central field, with the date flanked by two decorative dots along the lower periphery. The circular legend 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (Hellenic Republic) runs along the rim. The overall design is typographically bold, rendered in a clean, modernist style characteristic of early twentieth-century Greek republican coinage. |

Greece's return to a stable coinage in the mid-1920s came after a decade of catastrophic monetary disruption — the Balkan Wars, World War I, and the Asia Minor catastrophe of 1922 had collectively gutted the country's finances. The 1926 issue was struck at the Paris and Vienna mints as Greece lacked sufficient domestic minting capacity, a dependency that had plagued Hellenic coinage production since the nineteenth century.
The series ran only to 1930 before broader economic pressures from the global depression forced yet another monetary reorganization.
