Reverse description Central device depicts a soldier standing at attention before a rising phoenix with outspread wings, symbolizing the Greek military junta's self-proclaimed national rebirth. Below the central device, the commemorative date 21 ΑΠΡΙΛΙΟΥ 1967 — referring to the date of the coup d'état — is inscribed in the field. The large numeral '1' denoting the denomination appears in the lower central field, flanked by decorative scroll ornaments, with the denomination legend ΔΡΑΧΜΗ completing the inscription along the lower rim. The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, meaning 'Kingdom of Greece', runs along the outer border.
