Reverse description Full-length figure of Saint Peter, nimbed and draped in classical robes, standing in contrapposto upon billowing clouds above the papal coat of arms in the lower field. The saint raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction while holding a large key — the symbol of his apostolic authority — in his lowered left hand. The Latin legend APOSTOLORUM / PRINCEPS (Prince of the Apostles) is disposed in two arcs flanking the figure to the left and right, rendered in bold Roman capitals against the open field.
