Singapore's Lunar series gold miniatures were introduced partly as accessible accumulation pieces — low entry cost, high fineness, legal tender status — and the 2016 Monkey issue falls squarely in that program. The Year of the Monkey recurs on a 12-year cycle, but this particular issue coincides with the Fire Monkey year, considered the most dynamic and volatile of the five elemental Monkey combinations in the Chinese sexagenary calendar.
