| Obverse description | Central field depicts a dynamic figure of a baseball pitcher in full wind-up atop a pitching mound, rendered in high relief and engraved by John R. Deecken. The pitcher wears a USA-lettered cap and full uniform, captured mid-delivery with ball raised. To the left of the figure, the five interlocking Olympic rings appear above the legend USA; to the right, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in two lines.
