Obverse description Central vignette of Native Americans gazing at a passing locomotive, evoking the westward expansion of the mid-nineteenth century. Numeral counters occupy the upper left and upper right corners, with a portrait medallion at the lower left and a seated allegorical figure at the lower right. The note is typeset and engraved in the prevailing obsolete currency style of the 1850s Territorial period.
