Additional information

Walter Scheel served as West Germany's Federal President from 1974 to 1979, but is perhaps better remembered for his brief tenure as acting Chancellor in 1974 — a matter of days between Willy Brandt's resignation and Helmut Schmidt's confirmation. Palau's long-running series of small-format gold issues licenses foreign historical figures with no meaningful connection to the island nation, functioning essentially as bullion-adjacent collectibles sold to the European collector market.

At 1.24 g of .999 gold, the piece contains roughly one-twenty-fifth of a troy ounce.
