Obverse description Left-facing diademed and crowned effigy of Queen Victoria, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon, with finely detailed flowing hair gathered in a chignon and tied with a ribbon bow at the nape. The portrait is set within a raised inner border, flanked by a decorative Chinese fret or meander pattern band. The legend VICTORIA arcs across the upper field and TRIAL appears vertically to the right of the bust, with QUEEN inscribed along the lower periphery.
