| Reverse description | The reverse bears a full-colour reproduction of Michelangelo's celebrated fresco 'The Creation of Adam', originally painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican (c. 1508–1512). The composition depicts the reclining nude figure of Adam on the left, his left arm extended with a languid, outstretched hand, nearly touching the right hand of God, who is shown on the right surrounded by angels within a billowing cloak. The two fingertips, almost but not quite meeting, form the iconic focal point of the design. The scene is rendered in vivid polychrome colour printing, faithfully reproducing the tones and shading of the original fresco. No additional legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse. |
