Obverse description The national arms of Barbados occupy the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections displaying the bearded fig tree, the Pride of Barbados flower, and a hand holding two crossed sugarcanes, supported by a dolphin and a pelican. Two tridents flank the shield, with the date numerals divided on either side above the tridents. The legend BARBADOS appears along the lower rim, with the motto PRIDE AND INDUSTRY inscribed on a ribbon below the shield.

Reverse description A finely detailed depiction of a flying fish (Exocoetidae), the national symbol of Barbados, is shown in left-facing profile, its elongated pectoral fins fully extended in mid-flight above stylized ocean waves rendered in low relief. A second flying fish is depicted below, partially submerged amid the cresting waves, conveying a sense of dynamic marine movement. Small birds in flight are visible in the upper field. The denomination legend ONE DOLLAR is inscribed in large incuse letters along the lower arc of the coin, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
