Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with tools of the logging industry and a sailing vessel in the base quarter, supported by two human figures — a mestizo and a creole — each holding tools symbolic of the nation's heritage. A mahogany tree rises above the shield. The whole is encircled by a wreath of local foliage, with the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO inscribed on a ribbon at the base of the arms. The legend BELIZE arcs along the upper rim, and the date appears at the lower rim, all within a beaded border.
