Reverse description Two Scarlet Macaws (Ara macao), the national bird of Belize, are depicted perched on leafy tropical branches that extend across the central field. The larger bird in the foreground faces left, displaying finely engraved plumage detail including wing feathers and an elongated tail; a second macaw perches to the right on a separate branch, facing right. The naturalistic composition is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The denomination ONE DOLLAR arcs along the upper portion of the legend, and a beaded border encircles the entire reverse.
