Obverse description Central shield bearing the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau, depicting a traditional scene with figures and nautical elements, surmounted by a traditional Palauan sailing vessel. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, with six small stars flanking the shield on either side. The denomination 1$ appears in the lower field beneath the shield.

Reverse description A faithful miniature reproduction of a late Roman solidus of Romulus Augustulus, rendered in high relief with a matte finish. The obverse of the ancient coin is depicted, showing a diademed and draped bust of the emperor facing right, with elaborately detailed hair and imperial robes. The surrounding legend replicates the original Roman inscription DNROMYLVS AVGVSTVS, with the year of issue MMXII inscribed in the exergue below the bust.
