| Additional information |
Niue has issued commemorative silver under licensing agreements since the early 2000s, with the Polish Mint in Warsaw producing the majority of its art-themed rectangular pieces. This coin belongs to a series reproducing Flemish and Dutch Old Masters, issued partly to capitalize on the 2015–2016 Bruegel anniversary cycle marking 450 years since the painter's death. The Tower of Babel panel reproduced here is the 1563 Vienna version, held at the Kunsthistorisches Museum — Bruegel painted at least two versions, and the smaller Rotterdam panel predates it by roughly a decade.
