| Obverse description | The obverse bears the national coat of arms of Palau rendered in fine relief at center, depicting a traditional Palauan scene within a shield surmounted by a traditional sailing canoe. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs above the arms in raised Latin characters, flanked on either side by a row of five-pointed stars. The inscription RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield, and the denomination 1$ is inscribed in the lower field. The entire design is struck in polished .9999 fine gold on a lamp-shaped flan. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a highly stylized depiction of an Aladdin-style oil lamp in full profile, the entire coin flan shaped to replicate the outline of the lamp.
