| Reverse description | Colorized depiction of the venerated icon of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa, rendered in rich amber, crimson, and deep ochre tones characteristic of the medieval Byzantine-style painting. The Virgin Mary is shown in a frontal pose with the Christ Child, their faces darkened in keeping with the iconic tradition, with ornate vestments decorated in intricate patterning. The rectangular format of the coin frames the sacred image in the manner of an illuminated devotional panel. This piece forms the fifteenth issue in a 24-coin series dedicated to celebrated Marian icons. |

The Madonna of Częstochowa, housed at the Jasna Góra monastery in southern Poland, has been a focal point of Polish national identity through every major crisis from the Swedish invasions of the 1650s to the Nazi occupation. The icon's two facial scars are historically attributed to a Hussite raid in 1430, though their precise origin remains disputed among art historians. This piece is the fifteenth in a 24-coin series issued by Niue — a South Pacific microstate whose sovereign-coin program is administered entirely through the New Zealand Mint.
