| Obverse description | Central circular field depicts a coastal scene featuring a traditional dhow beached on shore, a standing camel to the left, and a palm tree in the background, with seabirds in flight above. The date 1996 appears in the exergue within the central circle. The legend ERITREA curves along the upper periphery in Latin script, flanked by decorative stars.
