Obverse description Selectively gold-plated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, executed in the mature portrait by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen with a pearl necklace and earring, her hair styled in an upswept coiffure. The legend ELIZABETH II flanks the left and D·G·REGINA the right of the portrait within a beaded border. The commemorative dates 1952 and 2022, separated by a decorative ornament, appear in the lower exergual area, marking the Queen's accession and the Platinum Jubilee year. The gold-plated rim contrasts elegantly with the frosted silver field.

Reverse description Selectively gold-plated composite portrait of Kathleen 'Kit' Coleman, Canada's pioneering war correspondent and journalist, depicted in profile silhouette and filled with imagery emblematic of her career: a vintage typewriter in the foreground, a sailing ship, a celestial globe, and a masthead bearing the legend MAIL & EMPIRE referencing the Toronto newspaper for which she wrote. A map detail extends from the lower left field, evoking her globe-trotting reportage. The legend CANADA DOLLAR arcs along the right periphery within a beaded border, with the date 2023 in the lower left field. The designer's initials appear discreetly at lower right.
