| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a Southern White Rhinoceros rendered in high relief, shown in a lowered head posture as if grazing, occupying the majority of the coin's field. Several small oxpecker birds are perched along the rhinoceros's back and horn, adding naturalistic detail to the composition. The bold inscription AUSTRALIA ZOO arcs across the upper field, beneath which SOUTHERN WHITE RHINOCEROS is prominently lettered in large serif type. The engraver's initials AWB appear in the lower right field, and the specifications 1 oz .999 Ag are inscribed along the lower portion of the design. The overall treatment combines deeply modelled sculptural relief with a fine granular background field. |
