| Obverse description | Left-facing bust portrait of Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the United States, rendered in high relief against a smooth field. The legend HERBERT HOOVER arcs along the upper rim, flanked by the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, with the inscription 31st PRESIDENT and the presidential term dates 1929–1933 positioned in the lower field. The portrait was engraved by Phebe Hemphill in the style characteristic of the Presidential Dollar series. |
