Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Palau rendered in raised relief at center, depicting a traditional outrigger canoe above a shield supported by two marine deities — a trident-bearing Neptune-like figure to the left and a seated female figure to the right — framed by an ornamental border. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc around the shield, flanking the central device. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU is inscribed along the upper periphery, with the series title RAINBOW'S END appearing in the lower field of the shield and the denomination 1$ struck below the coat of arms. The entire design is struck on a four-leaf clover-shaped planchet with a silk finish field.

Additional information

Palau has operated a prolific commemorative coin program since the 1990s, licensing its monetary authority to foreign minting firms — primarily Austrian and German operations — that produce collector pieces with no meaningful domestic circulation. This half-gram gold issue is a product of that arrangement, existing entirely as a bullion-adjacent collectible rather than anything connected to Palauan economic life.
