Obverse description The central field displays the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Nauru in high relief against a mirror-polished proof background. The shield, quartered with a frigate bird and a flowering plant, is supported by two palm frond branches and surmounted by a twelve-pointed star above a scroll inscribed NAOERO. A banner below the shield bears the national motto GOD'S WILL FIRST. The legend REPUBLIC OF NAURU arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination $1 appears at the base flanked by the fineness indicators 1 oz and Ag 999.

Additional information

Nauru has issued commemorative dollars tied to German historical milestones since the 1990s, a quirk of the small Pacific island nation's longstanding arrangement with German distributors who effectively drive the entire program. The coins are produced for the collector market and have no meaningful circulation history on the island itself.

The 30th anniversary of reunification — the event this piece marks — fell in October 2020, the same year KM cataloguing for Nauruan issues became increasingly difficult to verify due to the volume of distributor-driven releases flooding the market simultaneously.
