Reverse description The reverse depicts two ornate traditional Chinese palace gate door knockers rendered in high relief against a vivid red colored background, evoking the monumental gates of the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Each knocker takes the form of a stylized lion's head gripping a large ring, elaborately detailed with scrollwork and cloud motifs characteristic of classical Chinese architectural ornamentation. The two panels of the gate are separated by a central vertical dividing line, with rows of gilded boss studs arranged in a regular grid pattern across both panels, faithfully reproducing the traditional decorative nail arrangement found on imperial palace doors. The applied red coloring strongly contrasts with the gold-plated metalwork of the knockers and studs, creating a vivid and striking polychrome effect. No legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse.
