Obverse description Left-facing portrait bust of Cuffy, the celebrated leader of the 1763 Berbice slave revolt, rendered in bold relief with finely engraved hair and a short beard. The effigy occupies the central field, framed by a beaded border along the rim. The circumferential legend reads BERBICE REVOLT · FEBRUARY · 23 · 1763 around the upper and right periphery, while the name CUFFY appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The overall design is executed in a strongly modelled, realistic style befitting a national hero commemorative issue.
