| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted as a right-facing diademed and draped bust. The Queen wears a tiara and a drop earring, rendered in fine detail against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left arc, NIUE and ONE DOLLAR along the right arc, and the date 2014 appears in the lower exergue. The engraver's initials IRB are incused below the truncation of the bust. A continuous ring of raised beads frames the entire design. |
