Reverse description The reverse presents a richly detailed composition celebrating the art of writing, rendered in a combination of high-relief minting and selective color application. A large quill feather pen is depicted diagonally across the upper field, its tip resting in a rounded inkwell at right. To the right, a fragment of medieval manuscript text in Gothic script is engraved in the mirror field. At center, a colorized illuminated manuscript page is applied, featuring elaborate interlaced foliate initials in vivid red, blue, gold, and white, evoking a medieval illuminated codex. To the left, relief-sculpted printer's type blocks bearing Gothic letterforms are arranged in the lower field, alongside a wooden frame suggesting a compositor's setting. The overall design is executed against a deeply mirrored proof field, with no legends on the reverse.
