Additional information

Cook Islands has issued commemorative dollars under license arrangements that have little connection to the island's economy or monetary needs — this Mozart piece was produced for the 250th anniversary of his birth in 1756, part of a wave of collector issues flooding the market that year from minor issuing authorities worldwide. The coins circulated nowhere and were sold directly to collectors through distributors.
