This coin belongs to a Czech-themed series issued by Niue — a common vehicle for commemorative silver with no organic connection to the subject. George of Poděbrady ruled Bohemia from 1458 to 1471, the only Hussite king to hold the Bohemian throne and the only king in medieval Europe to propose a formal league of Christian princes as a check on papal authority. His 1462 proposal to Pope Pius II for a pan-European peace organization was flatly rejected. Rome eventually engineered a crusade against him instead.
