| Obverse description | The obverse features a circular raised field set within the rectangular flan, bearing the diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery and NIUE ISLAND along the upper right, with the date 2012 positioned at the top between two decorative stops. Below the circular field, incused in the rectangular margin, appears the denomination inscription 1/24th of 24 Dollars in italic lettering. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a color-printed reproduction of the historic southern celestial hemisphere star chart known as Imagines coeli Meridionales, originally engraved by Albrecht Dürer in 1515, rendered in warm sepia tones on the rectangular silver field. A circular polar projection occupies the central field, populated with elaborately engraved figures of the southern constellations including Centaurus, Scorpius, and Eridanus, with radiating sector lines emanating from the southern celestial pole. Decorative cartouches, armorial devices, and textual panels occupy the four corners of the rectangular composition, consistent with the original woodcut's layout. The title legend IMAGINES COELI MERIDIONALES appears in Gothic script along the upper margin of the reverse field. |
