The central figure, rendered with an anguished skull-like visage and hands pressed to the sides of the face, stands on a diagonal wooden boardwalk extending to the left, beneath a turbulent sky of swirling orange, red, and yellow bands. A deep blue fjord and dark silhouetted figures recede into the background at left, while undulating teal and blue forms occupy the right. The vivid polychrome color printing faithfully replicates the emotional intensity and flowing compositional lines of Munch's original work. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |
