Reverse description Full-color reproduction of Pieter Bruegel the Elder's painting 'The Census at Bethlehem' (1566), applied to the square silver flan using a color printing technique. The scene depicts a snow-covered Flemish winter landscape with a prominent brick building at center, bare deciduous trees framing the composition, and numerous small figures engaged in everyday activities in the foreground and middle ground. The richly detailed panoramic scene captures the Netherlandish Renaissance master's characteristic crowded village setting, rendered with warm ochre and amber tones of the architecture contrasting against the pale snow-covered ground and muted blue-grey winter sky. This piece constitutes the second in a six-part series dedicated to Bruegel's masterwork.
