| Obverse description | The coat of arms of Niue occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown and flanked on either side by sprigs of silver fern. The quarters of the shield display four stars of the Southern Cross, three sailing vessels, a native figure, a sheaf of wheat, and crossed implements, all rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend NIUE arcs along the left periphery and the date 1996 along the right, both in upright Latin characters. |
