Reverse description A vivid full-color painted scene depicting the Tenth Station of the Cross, in which Jesus Christ, wearing a crown of thorns, is stripped of his garments by Roman soldiers and attendants. Christ stands at center, his arms held by figures on either side, while a kneeling figure at lower right removes his clothing; a wooden beam and the INRI placard lie on the ground in the foreground. The scene is rendered in a painterly, Baroque-inspired style with a dramatic stormy sky in the background. The Roman numeral X appears in a rectangular cartouche at the lower center, identifying this as the tenth station.
