St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague took nearly six centuries to complete — construction began under Charles IV in 1344 and was not finished until 1929. Niue has operated as a prolific licensing issuer for commemorative collector coins since the 1990s, contracting designs through the New Zealand Mint, which produced the bulk of its cathedral and landmark series in the early 2010s. The rectangular format of this piece is a deliberate commercial choice to maximize visual real estate for architectural subjects.
