| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered as a right-facing draped bust wearing a pearl necklace and with hair styled in an elaborate upswept coiffure, as engraved by Susan Taylor. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery, while D·G· REGINA continues along the upper right. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears in the lower field beneath the portrait, completing the circular legend. The portrait occupies the central field in a refined, neoclassical style characteristic of Royal Canadian Mint coinage of this period. |
