Niue has issued commemorative silver under New Zealand's currency agreement since the 1970s, using its nominal sovereignty to license an enormous volume of themed collector coinage — zodiac series among the most commercially prolific. This Scorpio piece is one node in that machinery, produced for the bullion gift market rather than any domestic monetary need. Niue's resident population hovers around 1,600 people.
