Reverse description A large, selectively gold-plated winged scarab beetle dominates the centre of the reverse, its wings fully spread in heraldic fashion and its rounded thorax rendered in high relief. Behind the beetle, incuse Egyptian hieroglyphics arranged in horizontal registers cover the inner field, serving as a decorative backdrop. The black nickel ground provides strong contrast to the gold-plated central motif. The circumferential legend ANCIENT EGYPT is inscribed along the upper border and SCARAB BEETLE along the lower border, both in stylised Latin characters evoking an ancient epigraphic aesthetic.
