| Obverse description | Obverse features the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley, positioned at the upper center of the coin. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs across the upper field and 'COOK ISLANDS' continues the arc to the right, while 'ONE DOLLAR' appears along the lower arc, all separated by raised dot ornaments. At the center of the coin is a raised, domed boss bearing a stylized eight-pointed star or sunburst motif with a granulated central disc, rendered in high relief with a polished gold-plated finish contrasting against the darkened surrounding field.
