Cook Islands issued a series of commemorative dollars through the 1980s largely as a revenue mechanism — these pieces were sold to collectors worldwide and rarely, if ever, circulated domestically. The 1986 royal wedding in question was that of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, married at Westminster Abbey on 23 July of that year.
