Tokelau has no mint of its own and no domestic currency infrastructure — all coinage is produced under contract, typically by the New Zealand Mint, on behalf of a territory that relies entirely on the New Zealand dollar for everyday transactions. These dollar issues are technically legal tender but function primarily as collectibles; none circulate in the atoll communities they nominally represent.
