| Additional information |
Cook Islands has issued commemorative dollars under licensing arrangements since the 1970s, and by 2012 the program had expanded to include dozens of Titanic-themed pieces timed to the disaster's centenary. This particular issue is one of several in the "Abandon Ship" subset, each depicting a different episode from the night of April 14–15, 1912. The coins were struck for the collector market and almost certainly never circulated on Rarotonga.
