Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear in small relief below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, NIUE along the upper field, and ONE DOLLAR along the right field, all in raised Latin capitals. The date 2017 is inscribed in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a polished mirror field, characteristic of proof-quality production.
