| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, rendered in high relief against a frosted field. The queen wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and a pearl drop earring. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field to the left, and NIUE ISLAND arcs to the right, with the denomination 1 DOLLAR and date 2016 inscribed along the lower border. The engraver's initials IRB appear below the truncation, and the purity mark Ag999 is struck to the right of the portrait. A decorative border of raised dots frames the entire design. |
