| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, her hair arranged in a characteristic coiffure and wearing a tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and TOKELAU 2017 along the right, with the denomination ONE DOLLAR inscribed along the lower rim. Below the portrait, the Tokelau coat of arms is depicted centrally. The border is decorated with a traditional Tokelauan geometric pattern encircling the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Our Lady of Aparecida became Brazil's national patroness by papal decree in 1930, a status formalized after a terracotta statue — found by fishermen in the Paraíba do Sul river in 1717 — drew such sustained popular devotion that it eventually eclipsed every other Marian tradition in the country. Tokelau, a New Zealand-administered Pacific territory with a population under 1,500, has no connection to Brazilian Catholicism whatsoever.
The coin exists purely as a bullion-adjacent collectible issued for the export market — Tokelau's legal tender framework makes it a convenient vehicle for third-party mints producing themed issues. KM#235 is one of dozens of such pieces struck under this arrangement.
