| Obverse description | The obverse of this oval-shaped silver coin features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting a right-facing diademed and draped bust of the Queen set within an elaborate Fabergé-style ornamental cartouche of scrolling acanthus and rocaille motifs in high relief. The legend ELIZABETH II appears below the effigy, while NIUE ISLAND arcs along the upper border and the denomination 1 DOLLAR runs vertically along the left edge. The date 2012 is inscribed vertically along the right edge, with the Ag 925 fineness mark visible in the lower field. The overall decorative framework evokes the opulent aesthetic of Imperial Russian goldsmithery. |
